Creative Commission: Community Climate Action

We would like to invite artists to submit a proposal for a participatory artwork or live performance co-produced with local children.

Eastside Community Trust would love to hear from Bristol based creatives who have the skills, experience and capacity to deliver a creative project as part of our Community Climate Action project between June and October 2024.

We would like to invite artists to submit a proposal for a participatory artwork or live performance co-produced with children who attend Felix Road Adventure Playground and local schools.

Alongside the final artwork/ performance we would like to have some documentation of the process and final creation through, sharable outputs such as photographs, video, audio and contributions to Up Our Street magazine.

The selected artists will work alongside Eastside Community Trust to ensure local children can participate in the design and production of the final artwork or performance with the ambition of engaging and empowering children to make their voices heard and inspire us all to demand those in power to take action to tackle climate change locally.

We are open to submissions from people working in various creative disciplines; including theatre, film, music, visual arts and creative writing.

This commission is part of a city-wide Community Climate Action project that aims to engage and include a wider diversity of people in the climate conversation. This is one of six community creative commissions being delivered across Bristol. You can find out more about the overall project here

The budget for this is £10,000 to include concept, design, community co-design, production and installation. Individual artists, collectives and arts organisations are welcome to apply. Successful applicants will be required to have a full DBS check which we can facilitate.

At this stage we are looking for a short Expressions of Interest (EOI) to be submitted by 9am on Monday 3 June. EOIs should include:

    • Your credentials, with examples of projects you have worked on recently, include weblinks and/or jpeg photographs.
    • A brief statement about what interests you about this project.
    • Biographies of the artists and other team members that cover their relevant background, skills and experience.
    • Links to relevant website(s) and social media channels.

Email your EOI to no later than 9am on Monday 3 June 2024. Eastside Community Trust will then invite a selection of artists for an informal conversation.

If you have any questions about the commission please contact Vic via email or call 07539 309343.

This project is being delivered as part of the city wide Community Climate Action project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.

End date: 9:00am on Monday June 3rd, 2024
