2. Encounters Film Festival - Call for Submissions
Deadline: Thursday 31 May
Submissions for this year's festival open online on Monday 2nd April; the deadline for entries will be Thursday 31st May. They will be short listing in June and July and plan to announce which films have been selected in early August.

The University of the West of England's Bristol School of Animation presents the prestigious 'Three Month Animation Professional Training Course' funded by MEDIA.
This Three Month Animation Course is specifically designed to enhance and develop the professional potential of professional, or graduate 'animators'. Based on an understanding of production, design, and direction, the course focuses on core craft skills and techniques associated with character animation. Students work intensively in either 2D (drawn) or 3D (model or clay) animation techniques. Students study performance, timing, staging, character development, sound, life drawing and movement, as a means of perfecting their skills in preparation for working in the audio-visual industry.

4. DepicT! 90 Second Film Competition
Deadline: Monday 3 September 2007
DepitcT! Watershed's unique filmmaking competition, part of Encounters Film Festival, returns in 2007 to challenge filmmakers from across the globe to come up with a compelling, imaginative idea and distill it into 90 seconds of originality.

In addition to being in the running for the top prize of £2,000 and gaining valuable industry exposure through Encounters, this year each filmmaker shortlisted for the DepicT! Award will receive a free Network Delegate pass with all the trimmings, as well as a free place to the Encounters Film School and entry to the DepicT! Showcase and the Encounters Award Ceremony.

6. Arts Based Volunteering Opportunities in Ecuador
Deadline for applications: 1 May 2007
The Inter-Cultural Youth Exchange UK (ICYE-UK) has a limited number of six month or yearlong placements in Ecuador departing in August 2007. These placements are organised in conjunction with JUCONI, The Charlotte Miller Art Project and ICYE-UK. They are seeking individuals with experience in the arts and volunteering sector to help run arts based workshops with street involved children in the Guayaquil region of Ecuador.
These placements would be particularly suited to those who have worked in the educational sector, especially with children, and have a good grasp of arts based community work. A reasonable level of Spanish is also required for these placements. ICYE-UK is a not-for-profit organisation with Charity Status (No.1081907) and as such volunteers need to fundraise in order to help finance direct costs. ICYE support fully their volunteers in their fundraising activities.

7. Burlesque Gorefest need films & people!
