In 2010 Bristol Creatives 'Creative Thursdays' Networking Events will no longer be held in The Old Schoolhouse in Barton Hill. Instead we are going 'on tour' visiting a different creative space in the city each month.
The next 'Creative Thursdays' networking event will take place on Thursday 25 March at 11.45am in The Canteen at Hamilton House in Stokes Croft. The Coexist* team will give us a guided tour of the building and will outline their plans for the future, then we will reconvene in The Canteen for lunch and informal networking.
*Coexist have transformed the inside of Hamilton House into a range of airy light studios, offices and workshops. The range of different people and organisations working alongside each other is inspiring. Artists, social entrepreneurs, craftspeople and community groups. They welcome people of all backgrounds and specialisations. Environmentalists, community co-ordinators, fashionistas, photographers, sculptors, designers, web and life gurus, poverty reduction people, teachers, learners, writers, singers, dancers, doers, puppet, print and policy makers, painters, healers, pen pushers, promoters, and all sorts of food, arts and health activists. And that's just the people who are already involved.
They also provide:
Community Space - People living, working or passing through Stokes Croft are able to access a number of different facilities for the benefit of their communities. There are three large rooms that will allow community groups of different sizes (15-150) to gather, share, teach, learn and organise.
Body Space - A diverse group of professional teachers from the worlds of yoga, dance, movement and drumming have come together to create a workshop facility that can be used by practitioners and facilitators from all branches of the arts and health community.
Events Space - Situated above The Canteen looking out to Bristol's much loved "Mild Mild West" Banksy mural is Coexist's event space. Able to host 200 people for all sorts of inspiring events. Formerly home to some bonkers fundraising 'Knees Ups', this space is now maturing into a space for quality art, inspiring talks, fabulous feasts and much more, this space constantly takes on different faces as the many talented hosts make their mark. Watch out for exhibitions, talks, theatrical treats, guest speakers, and creativity in all its forms.
The Shop - The long awaited Coexist Shop is opening soon. As exhibition space, information hub, gallery, workshop and shop, the Coexist shop will be as diverse as the community it serves.
The Canteen - Run by a sister company alongside Coexist, The Canteen is the place to come for lunch or dinner. If you like good food thats super tasty, grown locally and totally affordable. With live music seven nights a week and all your favourite drinks its hard to stay away.
